I pride myself on having a great imagination. I also consider myself very creative, which I think goes hand-in-hand with an active imagination. But considering the world I grew up in, creativity and imagination were a necessity. There were no cell phones or internet. Our TV had access to 4 or 5 local channels. Anything beyond that needed to come through our satellite dish. Not one of the little dishes you see on roofs today, but the giant monstrosity that a whole family could fit in! I think I was in middle school before I ever even had an inkling of how to work that thing, so TV wasn’t a major source of entertainment for me. Because of this “lack” of technology, my sister and I had to find other ways to occupy ourselves, and we did – happily!
Now, the world is different. My daughter has known how to navigate Netflix since she was 3. Any TV show or movie she could care to watch are available on the TV, the computer, or her tablet – all of which she’s able to work independently. She’s also recently developed a love of video games. As necessary as it is for her to understand, and keep up with, technology (heck, they’re even using computers in kindergarten!), it’s also super important for me that my girls be able to dream, and create, and imagine outside of a screen.

That’s why we love PLAYMOBIL! With PLAYMOBIL toys, the creative possibilities are endless. The sets serve as a backdrop that my girls can build their stories around. As they bring these stories to life, they’re also developing thinking skills, language skills, and emotional skills. It’s so fun to watch the worlds they imagine and the stories they create while playing with PLAYMOBIL toys. And to make things even more enticing, PLAYMOBIL has introduce their line of DreamWorks Spirit Riding Free play sets! Emma loves watching Spirit on Netflix, so getting to play with her “friends” off-screen is a dream come true!
PLAYMOBIL has been around for over 40 years, and there’s a reason for that – the quality of their product is great! The play sets were quick to put together so we didn’t have to wait long for the fun to start! And the attention to detail was amazing! Right down to the tiny little brushes. Emma played with Spirit and friends for over an hour after we opened her sets. And for a little girl who wanted to skip a day at a theme park to stay in our hotel room and play video games, that’s saying a lot! (No, we didn’t let her skip the park)
Want to foster imaginative, pretend play with your own kids? Look no farther than every mom’s happy place – Target! DreamWorks Spirit Riding Free by PLAYMOBIL can be found in store or online so imaginative play is never far away.
Someone loves them so much that she’s already asking for more PLAYMOBIL toys for Christmas! I’ll take that over video games, any day!
Play on, my friends!
