I love to be creative.

I love to craft and sew and paint. (OK, maybe not paint. But I like things to be painted)

But of all the ways I can be creative, of all the mediums I could use, my most favorite is my house.

My house is my canvas.

I spend most of my time dreaming up new ways to make it pretty and comfortable and colorful and home.

I plan on sharing lots of posts and pictures about my home, so I thought I’d show you all the “before.” I apologize in advance for the crappy photos. I was so excited to jump in and get started that I forgot to take real “before” photos. I pulled these off a real estate website that listed our house when we bought it.

We bought this house in October of 2011. The house we were living in previously was just too small for us to want to raise a family in. I also really wanted plenty of space for entertaining. I love having people over. Also at the top of our list, was a backyard. We didn’t have one at the old house. We wanted plenty of space for dogs and our future children to play. For us, this house was PERFECT!!

New House (1)

3 bedrooms plus and office. A HUGE kitchen.

And a fireplace!!! Aren’t those alcoves just screaming for built-in bookcases??

New House (5)

This house was a flip! Can you believe it?! Apparently the old owners went through a nasty divorce and the husband didn’t want the wife to get the house, so he set it on fire! Talk about a home having some history!

New House (7)

The master bedroom is twice the size of our old one. The bathroom is a little weird, but I’ll get into that later.

The backyard? HUGE! And it has a pool. With a diving board. And a slide. It’s awesome and intimidating at the same time. What do I do with all that space?? (p.s. this picture was recently-ish taken by me. All that lovely grass? Not there when we bought the house. All gravel. Yuck!)

I love this journey of taking this beige oasis and creating something colorful and fun and sophisticated!

I can’t wait to share it all with you!
