Ok guys . . . I think it’s finally time for Charlie’s colorful, modern nursery reveal!

There’s not much I love more than decorating a nursery. The bright colors. The cute designs. I love it all!

I’m not one for “traditional”, cutesy nursery themes. I just like to take random things that I like and find a way to make them work together. I’m famous for telling people that my style is called “I do what I want!”

I like to mix and match colors and patterns. Whimsical, fun art with simple, modern furniture. An eclectic hodge podge of all the things I like, mashed together in one small space. The result is a room I think is fun, colorful, cute, and cool. A great room that can grow with Charlie as she moves from babyhood to toddlerhood and beyond.

Gray, ombre striped walls, a gallery wall, and cool toy storage created exactly the fun grow-with-me vibe I was hoping for. I didn’t have a ton of money to spend, so most of the nursery items were reused from Emma’s nursery, bought used, or were DIYed. A small budget doesn’t have to mean small impact!

So without further ado, here’s the little sanctuary I created for our little lady!

The crib and the mobile are both from Emma’s baby days. The crib sheet is new from Captain Silly Pants (no longer available) and the #SHENANIGANS poster is a free printable I found here.

The glider is a bit big for the space, but it is so fluffy and comfy! And it’s hugeness is great for those times when Big Sister wants to join the party too. Plus I got it for about $200 as a floor model purchase from Costco. The cute little side table was an Amazon find (similar) and the curtains were an inexpensive pair of regular old cotton panels that got a DIY watercolor paint treatment.

I adore this little footstool that I found on clearance at Home Goods. Isn’t the little pom trim the best?

I saw some toy storage similar to these from Land of Nod, but at $200 each piece, they were out of my reach. Thankfully, I found these on Amazon for the much more wallet friendly price of $85 each. They didn’t have an aqua color similar to the pricey version, so I just did what I always do in these situations . . . I broke out the spray paint. Now they look just like their expensive counterparts.

I love a good gallery wall! And decorating a nursery was the perfect opportunity to put one together. Best of all? Most of the art prints I used were free!

counter-clockwise from top left: Grand Tour // Flamingo // Get It Girl Banner (Target Dollar Spot) // Alphabirds // Watercolor “Just Be You” // Cacti // Do You Suppose She’s A Wildflower? // Felt Taxidermy Deer (made by me) // Wooden Name Cutouts

Big Sister helped me paint the wood cutouts of Charlie’s name.

I love this gold mirror from Target (I’m thinking about getting a second for the guest bathroom). But by itself, it seemed a little small and lonely, so I whipped up these large paper flowers to help balance the space. The mid-century modern dresser was a Craigslist find. I had hoped to keep it in it’s original state, but the veneer is in rough shape so I’ll be painting it as soon as I can find the time and make a decision on paint color (suggestions, anyone?)

I love this room so much! It’s so bright and happy and the perfect space for the littlest member of the family to grow and laugh and play. Perfect for our happy little girl!

This room is currently my favorite room in the house. I can’t imagine anything different for the space where I get to spend time and make memories with our sweet baby girl!

    Dear Jenny,

I have just made a room for my daughter, but since she is 11, it had to be more of a teenager thing.
But yours is so adorable and lovely. Wish I could do it again. And the pom pom stool – the best ever.
